Newman!…I mean Newark!
Seinfeld’s nemesis in many episodes was Newman.
My nemesis appears to be Newark, not the whole city, just the airport. After yesterday’s debacle and long drive to Cleveland, tonight we arrived back at Logan International Airport in Boston to find out that while our flight to Newark was okay, our flight from Newark to Dayton was canceled.
I happened to be talking to someone who was in New Jersey near the airport at the time, who said it was beautiful out, but the cause of our cancellation was still attributed to a line of thunderstorms that were on their way. It seems like after the JetBlue incident created all of the bad PR, airlines are canceling flights at just the thought of bad weather.
On the other hand, I have to give lots of kudos to the people working for Continental in Boston. They were polite, genuinely desired to be helpful, and were ultimately successful in helping us get back to the Greater Cincinnati area on a direct flight. I actually ended up getting home before I would have otherwise with the Newark connection. A pretty good resolution to the problem I have to admit.
The anxiety caused by tonight’s change of plans was minimal, but this round trip has just further fueled my desire to get into fractional ownership of a jet or turbo-prop sooner rather than later.
