Forecast for summer: downright hot and dreary.
When it comes to customer service, passenger comfort, and reliability, the airlines are expected to nosedive even further this summer.
An MSNBC.com article pinpoints “airline flight reductions, airline staff reductions, new fees for checking bags and getting extra leg room, and record-high fuel prices” as culprits that will contribute to the doom of the upcoming season.
The only thing not forecasted to decline is price. Fuel costs have nearly doubled since last spring, and commercial fares will rise to help already-struggling providers cover the increase.
Passengers are also warned of tighter restrictions on purchasing and using tickets, and we’re told “to be especially flexible.”
In a nutshell, they want to charge more, provide less, and if their plans don’t pan out, well, you should just be patient.
Yes, you read that correctly.
