Squeeze Every Hour Out of Every Dollar.
Given the substantial investment that fractional jet ownership entails, I certainly want to make the most of it. I’ve learned that there are ways to schedule and plan with your provider that allows them to run their business more efficiently, and that they will reward your desired behavior with more flight time, in effect increasing your ROI.
At first this struck me as a bit odd in that so much of fractional ownership’s appeal is about convenience. But I’ve learned that you need not necessarily be inconvenienced to earn some extra hours.
For instance, some plans will reward you for booking well in advance. I don’t know about you, but I do know that I make several trips every year that I typically plan many months out. So, it’s no skin off my back to book early.
Your plan may reward you with more hours if you’re willing to be more flexible on your arrival and departure dates. This one may be a bit tougher on some people, but I know that I often have some flexibility around this when I’m heading to, or returning from, our cottage in Pointe au Baril. If you do relatively quick trips (i.e. same day round trips), you also will receive a break on the number of hours you’re charged.
If you’re willing to travel on a smaller aircraft, your plan may also give you additional flight time. Once again, I can imagine situations where the size of the aircraft isn’t really an issue.
For a fiscally frugal guy like me (i.e. meaning I act as if I’m a child of the depression), it helps to know that there are ways to make your investment in fractional ownership work a little harder.
