Are you covered tail to nosecone?
If you become a fractional jet owner, wouldn’t you expect that the operator’s insurance would cover any and all claims? Well, that might not be the case. There’s an interesting white paper on this topic available at the fractional jet site run by the law firm of Bailey & Partners in Santa Monica, California. The white paper, written by Craig Williams of NationAir Insurance Agencies, describes some situations in which an operator and an owner could face a conflict of interest. For instance, what if the operator did something (or didn’t do something) that invalidates the insurance contract? Where does that leave the owner? Williams describes this and other potentially sticky situations, along with the good news that some insurance firms are selling policies specifically for the fractional jet owner. I feel better already.
