Turning the blue skies green.
Perhaps some folks have suggested to you that investing in a fractional jet isn’t good for the environment. Given all the understandable attention focused on global warming, forest cutting and rare animal poaching these days everything is getting scrutinized for its environmental impact. Fractional jets included. There’s no doubt that flying on jets, be they private or commercial, uses non-renewable resources. As does driving our cars, turning on the lights (unless they’re solar powered, of course) and powering up our computers. However, the difference in natural resources used between flying private and flying commercial just doesn’t strike me as all that great. Besides, with a private plane you can often land much closer to your chosen destination, meaning less fuel is required, and your cab or rental car need not drive as far. In addition, the business efficiencies that private jets allow, it can be argued, ultimately contribute to greater economic efficiencies which can only mean less resources expended in the long run.
For those particularly concerned about this issue, you may want to take a look at Avantair who just announced today that it has partnered with TerraPass, a company that offsets carbon dioxide emissions by allocating money toward products and programs that promote clean energy and energy efficiency. Avantair is the first fractional provider to do so. But I would expect others to follow.
