Are your travel documents in order?
Changes in border security policies translate to changes in global travel. So if you’ll be crossing borders by commercial or private air, you’ll not only want to verify that your passport is in-hand and up-to-date, but that you have any additional documents that may be required, too.Depending on your destination, you might be asked for a passport valid for a full six months past your departure date, a handwritten visa, a typed visa, or even an invitation from a citizen of your destination country (well, if you happen to be headed to Turkmenistan, that is).
A Washington Post article offers a succinct recap of the who’s, what’s, how’s, where’s and when’s of applying for passports, as well as useful information about expediting or tracking your application. If all else fails, contact the State Department.
