Disappointed by Delta
It’s Friday afternoon (7/20) and I’m sitting in the Cincinnati Airport frustrated yet again by Delta. I’ve flown Delta about 5 times (round trips) in just over two weeks and only one of those 5 trips has gone well. And by going well, I mean an on-time departure and arrival. Nothing special, just what they promise to deliver.
For the other four trips, I’ve been subject to two flight cancellations, several flight delays, and one overnight in Chicago on what was supposed to be a day trip. What could be better than a night at O’Hare with no change of clothes or toiletries?
Today I’m on way to our cottage north of Toronto to see my family. Nothing urgent, but something I’d really like to happen as I have not seen them for two weeks. We’re currently delayed (two hours and counting) due to a problem with the lavatory. Perhaps it’s full of the same thing as the Delta agent who keeps dodging my questions?
Not that I would want to be a gate agent. They’re currently faced with a line full of frustrated people who need to rebook due to Delta’s cancellation of their flight to Grand Rapids. How can a brand create so many ill feelings and expect to really be successful in their recent emergence from bankruptcy.
It’s clear why private air travel is so attractive to so many people. I’m getting closer and closer to the tipping point of making this decision – if this trip isn’t the straw that breaks the camel’s back, then I don’t know what will be.

Post Mortem: I made it to Toronto 3 hours later than planned. One suitcase out of two joined me. The second still hadn’t arrived over 48 hours later. That’s the icing on the cake. The good news, I met someone at our cottage who is also from Cincinnati and they’re using Avantair. And they wouldn’t mind having an extra passenger from time to time. If the timing works out, I may get to try this provider in the next month or two.
