Fractional Focus In-Depth Report

We all know how expensive commercial flight has become. And we’re all too familiar with the cryptic way airlines seem to manage pricing their fares. Well, it just so happens that my main commercial airport, the Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG), is again the most expensive airport in the entire country to fly out of.According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, the average airfare out of CVG is $576. Want to take a guess at which airport came in second? LAX? LGA? BOS? Nope. Try ANC. That’s Anchorage, Alaska! Freezing my shorts even more, their average fare is a full $100 below CVG. What sense does this make? Adding to the mystery of commercial flight pricing is that the Columbus, OH airport, 90 miles north of Cincinnati, has an average fare of just $367, nearly $200 less than CVG.

Yes, CVG is a Delta hub and with that comes some convenience for sure. But, in my book, not enough to account for the price disparity. Not by a long shot.
